Protocol C

Protocol C (evaluating clinical, host and viral outcomes in early infection) enrolls newly infected volunteers from Protocol B. This work is aimed at understanding better the immunological factors that are involved in the control of viremia after infection but also to characterize transmitted viruses. Samples are being collected from different cohorts funded by IAVI. UVRI-IAVI provides support to some of the cohorts in the collection and processing of specimens but will also participate in some of the laboratory studies in the coming year.
UVRI-IAVI HIV Vaccine Program is providing laboratory support for processing and shipping samples, laboratory training and QA, and coordination of clinical training and monitoring.
