Community structures

We work with a dedicated Community Advisory Board (CAB) composed of members representing different constituencies. Their major aim is promote a harmonious relationship between our research teams and the communities we work with.
The CAB provides useful insights into the different activities that are geared towards promoting HIV Vaccine research activities. Our CAB is part of the Uganda Cross-CAB network that brings together CABs involved in HIV prevention research for cross- learning and exchange.
The Gender Advisory Committee has gender experts who are partnering with the program to ensure that gender issues are integral part of the community and advocacy plans. Efforts include equity in numbers participating in HIV Vaccine trials.
Peer leaders are a cadre of young men and women who conduct direct/grassroots community mobilisation activities, distribution of IEC materials. They are also involved in implementing innovations in HIV communication by working closely with community outreach team.
