Advocacy activities

The Community and Advocacy Services Department is involved in targeted advocacy towards media practitioners to promote responsible reporting, members of parliament and key policy makers, medical professionals, local and religious leaders. The purpose of the advocacy efforts is to promote a favourable media and policy environment for conducting clinical trials.  To effectively engage the policy and advocacy partners we have organised round table meetings, policy briefs, and and one to one interactions.
The Annual HIV Vaccine Awareness Day held every May 18th is a key advocacy event. Together with other partners in HIV Vaccine research, we organise activities aimed at updating the general public on developments in the HIV Vaccine research field, appreciate study volunteers for their involvement in HIV Vaccine research activities, and call for more support for the work towards the search for an HIV Vaccine.
